But YOU are the ones

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you – from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

Recently, I was given the most beautiful piece of jewelry for my birthday.  The gorgeous piece was carefully crafted by hand. It is breathtaking. But even more than the jewelry itself were the words by the maker. She enclosed the verse above. In addition, she knew a little piece of my story. The story of my middle name, Dawn – the dawning of new life. Her words read, “Wear this piece as a reminder that just as the dawn of a new day will come from above, your steadfast surrender will also help your soul wait on the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning. Yes, more than watchmen wait for the morning. May God pursue that surrender ever-so, then He  ever has before, as you live out your identity as A King’s Daughter, more & more each new year.”  The words Emily Kessie enclosed inside this jewelry box wrecked me. She must have known my soul needs help with the waiting. She could not have known the things that are being surrendered in pursuit of His calling. But, yet, He knew and He prompted her words. May we be bold to speak what the Spirit stirs inside of us. Let us speak life over each other and spur one another on in His name.
